SNA Traffic Management Tips

Due to limited movement area availability, close proximity of terminal to runway, and noise abatement curfew, there are limited staging/holding areas for departing/arriving aircraft.

Minimizing ZLA TRM departure flow for SNA until 0730L prevents the tower from incurring immediate departure delays upon opening for daily operation.

During clear weather, provide adequate separation on final to facilitate closely spaced departures.

Encourage eastbound departure routes via IPL and DAG during periods of heavy demand over TRM to mitigate departure delays.

Encourage aircraft destined for PDX, SEA, YVR to depart over SXC..RZS..SNS, to mitigate ZLA Sector 27 volume over GMN/EHF area.

ZLA ROUTE TMI:

Encourage eastbound departure routes via IPL and DAG during periods of heavy demand over TRM to mitigate departure delays.  This TMI is useful in managing High Altitude volume in Sectors 40 and 39 and can mitigate the need and/or impact of other LAX Basin airports departure TMIs over TRM.

Encourage aircraft destined for PDX, SEA, YVR to file routes over SXC..RZS..SNS to mitigate departure delays.  This TMI is useful in managing High Altitude volume in Sector 27 and can mitigate the need and/or impact of other LAX Basin airports departure TMIs over the GMN/EHF area.

Departure Fix Balancing:

Reroute departures to mitigate departure delays over a fix ie: DAG, TRM, IPL, SXC, GMN.
