Snow and Ice Plan:

Description
The Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport 2008-2009 Snow and Ice Plan was amended to include a Contingency for Significant Snow Events. The purpose of this contingency is to provide a plan for deploying County Snow and Ice Removal Teams to effectively treat and keep open critical airfield areas during a significant snow fall event at DTW. The contingency plan will go into effect when a forecasted snow fall is expected to reach or exceed six (6) inches, and if the snow fall accumulates at a rate of one (1) inch or more per hour.

Anticipated AARs
When Three (3) Runways Are Available Aar 60 - 66; Adr 45 - 60.
When Two (2) Runways Are Available Aar 32 - 40; Adr 32 - 40
When One (1) Is Available Aar 18; Adr 18

Delays
Chance For Extensive Arrival And Departure Delays During Periods Of Peak Demand.

Traffic Management Initiatives
Expect Ground Stops, Ground Delay Programs And Expanded Mile In Trail To Manage Arrival/Departure Demand.

General Information
Runway 21R/3L Will Be Closed during the Contingency. WCAA Will Focus Snow Removal Efforts On Runway 22R/4L, 22L/4R and 21L/3R.
